What is Peace Child International?

We are the peace-building movement that broke the Cold War silence through music and drama. We have since become champions of the movement to educate young people about their generational challenge of achieving sustainable development, alongside the UN’s core mission to “save succeeding generations from the scourge of war…” We have worked in partnerships throughout our history, with governments, other NGOs, schools, teachers and, most important, young people themselves. Our most recent partnership is with the National Emergency Briefing on the Climate and Nature emergency that is seeking urgent individual, political and community action to address the existential threats to the future well-being of all Life on Earth.
What is the Peace Child Musical?
PEACE CHILD is a 2-act stage musical by David Woollcombe with Songs and Lyrics by David Gordon, some drawn from his musical, Alpha Omega, and adapted from The Peace Book by Bernard S Benson. The story starts in a safe, sustainable world, 50-years hence and, in a flashback to the present, tells the story of what the young people of today do with their working lives to bring about that safe, peaceful, sustainable future. Each cast has to Inform themselves about the issues the story explores before they start developing their own version of it. There are no named characters in a Peace Child story – each cast member is invited to use their own name for their character, thus investing themselves and their ideas centrally in their show. Every performance is, thus, unique to the children that perform it.
How long has Peace Child been around?
Peace Child was conceived in June 1981 and first performed at the Royal Albert Hall on October 30th that year. The Charity was formally established in April 1982 in the UK and USA and it operated mainly in the USA and USSR from July ’82 to September 1994 – launching over 10,000 performances and dozens of US-Soviet exchanges which helped bring about the lifting of the Iron Curtain in 1989. It returned to the UK in 1992 and has since published 37 youth-created books on global issues; run 6 x World Youth Congresses and launched the concept of Youth-Led Development which seeks to resolve the challenge of youth un- and under-employment in Africa and South Asia. Throughout all its multiplicity of programmes, Peace Child has sought to empower young people to be aware of their agency and take a leadership role in resolving their individual, community and global problems. As co-founder, David Woollcombe, has written: “I believe that our world would benefit immensely from a more muscular inclusion of young people in our decision-making and in the execution of those decisions. Peace Child Intl. is sourced in the faith that young people can contribute constructively to the good of society in the years before their 18thbirthdays. I have spent my adult life operationalizing that faith - devolving insane amounts of responsibility on to young shoulders. Very, very rarely have they let me down.”
What is it doing now?
We have three current major projects:
The P5 Peace Child which brings together youth from the 5 x permanent, veto-wielding members of the UN Security Council (China, France, Russia, UK & USA) – in a 45-minute performance that forms the first half of the Uniting Nations Concert on the opening night of the Wales International Eisteddfod. (See attached brochure.)
Promoting community screenings of the People’s Emergency Briefing Film with discussions afterwards; also developing a student-led performance that includes extracts from the film, to educate and raise confidence amongst the young people that their generation can resolve the issues that their parents generation have so far been unable to.
Workshop productions leading to a London Stage Peace Child show that popularises our Charity’s message and achievements to a wider public;

Presenter Bio
Kiyo Kahtava is a UK‚Äëregistered practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, specialising in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, paediatric tuina, and with a particular emphasis on DaoYinAnQiao and medical qigong therapy. She studied under the internationally renowned TCM doctor and medical qigong teacher Li Qiduan, and is skilled in Xiang Gong, the Shengzhen Healing Qigong, as well as various Taoist practices. Kiyo is also a direct disciple of Mao Zhengyu, the lineage holder of classical DaoYinAnQiao, from whom she received authentic transmission.
During the COVID‚Äë19 pandemic, she helped countless patients recover, and many of those who regained their health later became her students. Traditional Chinese Medicine emphasises the holistic unity of humans and nature, preventing illness before it arises, treating disease at its root, rediscovering the self, returning to the universe, and realising the value and happiness of the whole person.
Based on her own personal growth and clinical experience, Kiyo believes that all illnesses are brought upon oneself; since one can create illness, one can also heal oneself. Medical qigong is the best tool for this. To help more people free themselves from suffering and achieve health independence, Kiyo founded the International Wuwei Academy of TCM, promoting hands‚Äëon healing and working to cultivate at least one “family doctor” within every household.
She is the author of Mother as the Family Doctor: A Recommendation of Hands‚Äëonly Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Eloisa’s novel encourages the Lioness/Lion reader to think of their thoughts as a playlist. They are the DJ of their mind. "Let’s choose the ones we love!"
Eloisa uses music as a therapeutic tool and the novel is designed to encourage the reader to create their own playlist to give them strength to develop their own Roar.
When the book was published Eloisa featured on the radio several times and in Soul & Spirit magazine. She did a speech at the Samaritans AGM and a motivational talk for a local mental health charity, where she delivered creative writing workshops.
Eloisa stepped away from the book during lockdown and reconnected back with it in February 2026. It is featured in Hay House' Spring Catalogue this year.
